Influences of computer in society
Nowadays, computerization is increasing dramatically. Computers, which appear in many offices, factories as well as schools, become more and more necessary and important in society. However, computers can be harmful. There are three main examples for how computers hurt our society. The first problem is computers seriously influence the way of our interaction. Some people spend more time in computers than talk to their friends or their families; their personal interaction therefore reduces every day. For example, in my host house, my host mother’s son likes spend all the time in the internet. He does not like to go out or talk to another people. Even though I have been living in their house for almost 5 months, I talk to him just two times. Now, he cannot speak very fluently and hardly explain what he wants to say. Moreover, when people like e-mailing for their friends instead of talking to them habitually, they can forget how to interact with people. The misinterpretation might be made by e-mail because people cannot see the emotion and the body language of what their friends say. Secondly, computers not only influence our interaction, but also affect our health. The person who interacts with computer too much can have problems with their eyes. Specifically, if somebody takes more than four hours each day to look at the computer screen, they can be short sighted or astigmatic. In addition, when people are addicted to computers, they rarely go outside and take part in social activities. It leads them gradually to become lazy, sluggish and less active. Therefore, their supplemental energy is stored up day by day which can cause obesity. Besides that, people can even die because of using computer overtime. For instance, five years ago, in Vietnam, a boy died, for he had played game and chatted to such an extent that he forgot to eat. The last example is computer games might cause of violence. Especially teenagers, most of their violence is from the violent game. They deeply fall into the virtual world and cannot distinguish where the real world is and where the illusion is. They play the games and think it is normal behavior. They act like their characters in the game and violence happen because the computer games deeply affect their minds. In conclusion, computers can be harmful in some ways including the negative influence of our interaction, our health problems and an increase of violence.
